"Life in Profound Neutral... beyond the treatment table"

October 2005
Powerfully Neutral, Profoundly Now

Once again, the creation flow of Profound Neutral spirals us to a new challenge, a new awareness of our programmed polarities. In the December 2004 NewsFlow I talked about "Seeing it Through," as we are challenged to create our lives from this midline, balancing flow, rather than from those rigid, familiar polarities.

Now, as Sacred Spaces finds its big voice for its very big energy, it provokes the question of "can we feel our power as its own self, rather than define it by an antagonist?" As we find the language to name this new place within, can we be heard simply for our strength? Can our strength stand on its own?

Think about it. In our culture, in our tribes, in our political situation, we have been programmed to claim our own power at the expense of the Other. We pick up the sword of righteousness (not necessarily truth) to slay the Other and thus feel empowered. We attack the obstacle (and when this is done in bodywork, it takes the argument out of context of the greater health of the body and usually leads to more confusion).

But as we live in Profound Neutral, we engage the flow of what is, be it our own profound truth or the flow of health in our tissues. We are moving beyond the need to engage the arguments of the validity of those old polarizing patterns.

When we pick up the sword of our truth, from Profound Neutral, and draw the circle around us, we proclaim the edges of our space. And we define ourselves as THIS, and across the edge of this space are those other choices. And so be it. That is the simple defining of the space you flow from, not the tearing down of what’s on the other side. We might have been there and done that at some point, but now we are here, powerfully neutral, profoundly now.

Can we feel and hear the power that flows from this space without assuming its mirror is the destruction of something else - outside of us?

The power of this truth and flow dismantles our old patterns within us. We surrender to that greater rhythm and trust the creation that we engage in. We find ourselves dancing in the world differently and then seek the language to tell the story of it. The energy, the story, gets bigger and deeper, lighter and truer.

Can you feel it? And hear it? For the light of itself?

The Dance of Yes and No

Where does all this grounding flowing breathing midline work get us, anyway?

Well, hopefully nestled in our sacrums, serene in the deep currents of the great Mother River.

And what does that mean, out there in the real world? It means that we can hold our own space and not get sucked into the drama du jour that surrounds us. It means that we can observe our environment for the information it brings us, and engage with that information in an appropriate way, free from emotional charge and projections.

It means that we can claim our "Authentic No" when a situation is not right for us - simply, quietly, truthfully. The Authentic No is a sword of truth, drawn with discernment and wielded to clear the path before us. It is the dynamic edge-keeper that holds space for truth to flow.

Most importantly, judicious use of the Authentic No brings more life and beauty to the moment of Yes. They dance together.

One clears the path so the other can emerge, they have their own rhythm and balance that facilitates the flow of our lives.

Honor your Authentic No, and celebrate the space for our juicy Yes!

Seeing It Through

Somehow, we’ve come to feel comfortable in rigid polarities. It IS black or it IS white; or maybe we can acknowledge there is grey in between, well, it's this sometimes but it's REALLY that....

Somehow we’ve been raised to feel secure in rigid edges, rather than in our own flow. There comes a time, as we learn the flow and terrain of profound neutral, that this flow demands to carry us beyond our familiar, polarized edges.

In the heat of an argument, in the face of grief, in the utter helplessness of a situation, how huge is the effort to take the tiniest breath and squeak “what’s possible now?”

How enormous the commitment to growth, compassion and change, to look beyond the patterns that raised us and once protected us, and now find another way.

This is the uncharted territory of “Seeing It Through,“ whatever IT may be. Of really letting go of old patterns, of doing what is right and true from the depths of profound neutral... Of being present in a place that is full of emotions and possibilities at the same time; where there is no place for charge or blame or those other old games.

It is the place of creation: the very rhythm of our breath is nature creating life, the rhythm of our heartbeat is nature uniting what has been divided; the rhythm of the dance within our own psyches and in our relationships with loved ones, colleagues and community is our original creation story.

Do we have the courage to create our own lives? Beyond old patterns of rigid edges and beliefs, present to the limitless gifts of the moment?

Stop. Take the breath. Listen for the small voice inside pleading “what’s possible now?”

Listen. Live the dance. See it through.
